A new game plan for internal communication

The Danish Football Union (DBU) has experienced significant growth in recent years, resulting in a doubling of employees. This growth and DBU’s unique organization with its headquarters in Brøndby, six local unions, and divisional associations for elite football have created an urgent need for better internal communication and collaboration. With employees spread across 10 different addresses, it was important to find a solution that could unite everyone digitally.

"At DBU, we all work to unite and inspire the nation in the community of football. We tackle very different tasks with a common purpose, and therefore it is crucial for us to have a platform where we can meet, share knowledge, and create coherence across the organization."

Assistance from Fellowmind and IntraActive Intranet

We were looking for a user-friendly and modern SharePoint solution that we could implement more or less seamlessly over the Microsoft 365 solution we already had,” says Heidi Lüthje, IT Manager at DBU.

DBU chose Fellowmind’s SharePoint-based IntraActive Intranet based on its high user-friendliness, modern design, and integration with DBU’s existing Microsoft 365 environment.

Team spirit in a hybrid world

The collaboration between DBU and Fellowmind was characterized by efficiency and professionalism.

Heidi Lüthje describes it as “a very smooth process because Fellowmind had everything under control. Every time we asked about something, we received an answer. Fellowmind also showed us new possibilities and solutions that we had not discovered ourselves.

The intranet went live in January, and shortly thereafter, the organization experienced great activity and engagement among employees. DBU has also established an editorial group to ensure ongoing development and balance between local and common sections.

From midfield to the goal line

The intranet has been well received by employees, who now have a platform to share everything from organizational changes and personnel news to practical information and success stories.

There have been many posts, many likes, and good interactions, which shows that the intranet is already being actively used by employees,” says Andreas Høj.

DBU is particularly pleased with the special functionality in IntraActive Intranet, which allows DBU and local unions to send news to DBU’s volunteers directly via the intranet.

The volunteers do not have access to the intranet – it is only for employees, but we communicate with them via our web portal Mit DBU. Now it has become much easier, as we can create a message on the intranet that is then only displayed on Mit DBU,” explains Heidi Lüthje.
